All Things Bride and Happy

The Wedding Show held at Capella Singapore, on 20 August 2011.

Invited guests were brought on a tour of the facilities and the rooms, before being led back to the lounge area (with lots of daybeds!) to chill out before the fashion show started. Here are some of the photos. Enjoy!

Above are some photos of the outdoor pool area that can be done up to cater for a solemnization ceremony of up to 100 people. And for those who're not too keen to get a tan on your wedding day, you can choose to do your ceremony, either indoor (in air-conditioned but smaller room) or outdoor but under shelter (picture below).

Capella can also do up your wedding dinner venue according themes and here are some of photos the new themes available for your dinner. Unfortunately, I couldn't quite remember the names of all the themes on display.

You can also choose to do an upgrade to get a more elaborately decorated tables. Below are photos of the theme 'Apple of my Eye' in the standard and upgraded version. Honestly speaking, I prefer the simple standard version :)

And look at all the delicious, visually pleasing, sugar-coma inducing desserts available! Boy... I haven't had this much sugar in a day, for a long time!

Some samples of wedding cakes. And no, it's not for sampling!

A prelude to the start of the wedding show. The models were modeling some of the jewellery from Boucheron but I was focusing more on those gowns!

Unfortunately, we weren't allowed to take pictures of the Michelle Huimin Bridal Veil 2012/ 2013 Collections that was being showcased.

A bit of description of what I saw: Asymmetrical designs seems to be the in-thing, and there were also some cheongsam-inspired evening gowns. For those who do not know what is a cheongsam, it is actually a body hugging, one piece Chinese dress for women. It is known in Mandarin Chinese as the qípáo (旗袍). The men's suits were not the usual black and white tuxedos but in colours like blue, brown, off-white, grey and there were even suits in metallic sheen!

Some local celebrities were also spotted at this bridal fashion event, and plenty of champagne and tapas were served to keep the guests lounging around happy. :)

And speaking of food, it's dinner time!

It's Lovely

Ooohh... The day of the Wedding Show! With the theme being 'Chic Elegance' and my limited wardrobe, I decided to throw on this new chiffon dress that I bought a month ago, and paired it with my favourite comfy wedges (I was told that we were gonna be taken on a little walking tour of the hotel premise). And... I finally managed to wear my new snake bangle!

dress: LoveBonito; wedges: Steve Madden; snake bangle: Forever New

I'm not very good at doing up my hair, hence the mild frizz/ mess... Thinking of perming again, but with all that amount of hair dropping, it's worrying and I'm not sure if it's a good idea to do it any time soon.

The pool solemnization area was absolutely lovely! It's different from the usual solemnization ceremony where it's either held at the Registry of Marriage or other indoor venues. Despite walking around under the hot afternoon sun, I must say that The Boy and I enjoyed the event thoroughly. I will post up photos of the event tomorrow.

Have a fun-tastic Saturday, people! :)

Hey Chicken!

I made some noodles for lunch with The Boy yesterday... Okay, I gotta give him some credits for washing and cutting the vegetables, and beating the egg. ;)

Noodles with spinach, tomatoes and chicken sausages

I'm not exactly a big fan of processed food, but since they're lying around in the fridge, I figured I might as well cook them rather than wasting the food. *thinks of the malnourished kids in 3rd World countries*

And we also discovered 2 big bags of chicken mid-wings in the freezer! A nice surprise for us (given that we seldom explore the usually empty freezer)... Since his mom is away, and no one's gonna cook the mid-wings, I made us some oven baked chicken for supper.

It was my first time marinating the wings from scratch.... Yeap, no bottled BBQ sauce or Teriyaki sauce... It turned out quite nicely, though I think it could have been better!

Chicken for 2 meals.... Woohoo!! I hope you all had a great weekend!

Majulah~

Managed to capture a nice picture of the fly-past on 9 August this year! Unfortunately, I was out without my camera when the fireworks started.... :(

Chic Elegance

Chic Elegance

I've been invited to a wedding show where the dress code is stated as 'Chic Elegance'. For the moment, I was stumped. Looking through Polyvore, I slowly started to gather some ideas. I figured if I know what each word meant to me, I'd be able to put together an outfit that fits my definition of 'Chic Elegance'.

So, the word 'elegance' brings to mind the dainty soft chiffon or silk dresses in soft colours. I'll prefer a short dress since Singapore is really hot at this time of the year. Chic? Hmmm... Guess I'll add a statement bag or clutch, and a sprinkle of accessories. Woohoo! That's 'Chic Elegance' for me!

So what's your definition of 'Chic Elegance'?

A Walk in the Park

The Boy and I decided to go for a walk in the park since it's been a long time since we've done that. Turns out, the turtles in the pond were pretty hungry today. And unfortunately, we only had a couple of bread slices on hand to feed our animal friends...

That's me carbo-loading the turtles

And the bread was also shared among the squirrels, birds and a few sneaky little fishes.

And Birdy here waiting for the bread. Anyone knows what specie is this bird called?

I enjoyed my Sunday and am looking forward to a new week ahead :) I hope everyone's had a wonderful weekend!
