Food Galore with Happy Call Pan
I know the craze on the made-in-Korea Happy Call pan has been going on for some time. So last week, I managed to get my hands on one! A relative gave my grandma a pan but she decided to stick with her trusty wok. Rather than to let the pan collect dust in the storeroom, I decided to bring it home and put it into good use over the weekend!

Polka Dots & Studs
I went for Gelish pedicure a week after my first Gelish French manicure, and signed up as a member with The Nail Status (Check out their Facebook page here), which entitles me to 50% discount for all treatments during my birthday month! My manicurist for the evening was Faye, a really sweet lady who suggested French & polka dots for my toe nails and here's the end result!

French Manicure
After seeing a few friends spotting really nice manicured nails using Gelish, I was inspired to try this myself. Compared to normal nail polish, Gelish can last up to 3 weeks without chipping or fading of the nail colour. Well, that's fantastic news for a girl whose manicured nails have never last beyond 2 days without chipping!
A friend of mine who's been doing Gelish regularly, recommended The Nail Status at Far East Plaza. With Fridays and Saturdays being their busiest time, I was lucky to be able grab a spot as I went in without making an appointment. I've always liked French Manicure so I opted for that.

Gelish French Manicure!
The nail painting was pretty well done, slightly thick on the edge of some of my nails but it's not exactly noticeable unless you're staring at my nails up close. The no-chipping guarantee was confirmed with my bathroom scrubbing today - Still intact and as good as ever! I'm so excited and already planning to redo my nails in 2 or 3 weeks time. Do check out The Nail Status blog here.
Meanwhile, the 2 months long of Great Singapore Sales is on! Woohooo~ Time to grab more stuff at reduced prices!

After a long hiatus
This is what I have been up to!
A new pair of pole/ hooker heels!
Chopped off my long hair... Boyfriend was literally in tears when he saw this.
With Bobbi, the owner of Bobbie's pole studio. She's such an inspiration!
And US skincare brand Philosophy finally hit our sunny shores! These are just some of the products I bought during their launch week. The microdelivery peel is definitely one of my favourite products. Philosophy is currently sold in the Sephora branches across Singapore.

F1 Sunday
After a hiatus from nursing a really bad cold, I'm finally well enough to sit in front of the computer and tinker with the photos taken during the Formula 1 Singapore weekend (23 - 25 September).

Mineral Aqua Gel
While getting my monthly fix of CLEO fashion and beauty advices, I chanced upon an article with the headline screaming "MY SKIN FEELS DRY AND FLAKY!"
Now, I've combination skin. The T-zone gets oily really fast in this hot and humid Singapore weather, whereas the rest of my face is dry and dull. Sometimes it gets so bad that when I lather on a thin layer of BB cream, my skin looks really flaky.
According to the article, the Mineral Aqua Gel helps to get rid of the dead skin cells while nourishing the skin with the combination of amethyst, hyaluronic acid and bio-energy fluid. I chanced upon the newly launched product while shopping at Watsons and decided to give it a try.
It is supposed to be used on dry face. What I had not expected was that the 'gel' was more of a liquid gel than the usual jelly-like gel. As I rub on the gel, white flaky residues started appearing, which I presume, are my layers of dead skin cells. Upon washing off these residues, my skin actually feels smoother to touch! Unlike other exfoliators that I've tried (and gave up), this product does not feel harsh on my skin and leaves no red irritated patches. Best of all, according to the description at the back of the bottle, this gel can also be used on other parts of the body!
Love it! :)

The Knolls
Last Thursday, The Boy and I were invited by Charlene Hendricks who's the Catering Sales Manager for Capella Singapore, to dine at one of Singapore's finest Mediterranean restaurants - The Knolls.
The Boy and I arrived at 7:00pm and I decided to sneak in a little photo shoot along the beautiful colonial corridors of the hotel.

I had the grilled salmon which was sweet and grilled just right - crispy skin and soft fish meat. Hidden underneath the fish was spinach which goes well with the fish and risotto.
The tea she ordered is named Nymph of the Nile, a light fragrant white tea with a hint of sweetness when drank on its own. Those with sweet tooth may want to add honey to it. Apparently, this tea is also soothes the throat, which is good for The Boy who's been clearing his throat nosily for the past 3 weeks. Delicious!
Personally, I love drinking the tea on its own and I think it's a great drink to have each night, to wash away the stress of the (work) day.

We caught up with Charlene in her office and made a beeline for Bob's Bar for cocktails. Day-beds, jazz trio and the relaxing atmosphere, the hustle and bustle of the day was soon forgotten. Soon it was time for dinner and we were told that our drinks can be brought to the restaurant. What amazed me was the attentiveness of the wait staff who delivered our drinks as we sat down, without ever asking which drink belonged to whom.
Inside the Knolls
Oh let's just skip straight to the food talk alright? ;)
We nibbled on a selection of bread while deciding on our dinner.
For starter to share, we had:

Toast of tomato and iberian ham "reserva"
Gorgonzola Croquettes
Gratinated stuffed blue mussels
The ham tapas was delicious and is my favourite. It wasn't too salty and there's a right balance of fats and meat in the ham. The croquettes look plain at the first glance but one bite into the golden ball and the warm cheesy filling floods the senses. I love seafood hence it's the mussels for my choice of starter. The mussel bits were sweet and the creamy filling was not overpowering. Although both the croquettes and mussels were deep fried, it wasn't as oily as I thought they would be.
The main courses were amazing!
Grilled Salmon

Pan Seared Sea Bass
I love the sea bass which Charlene had. The meat was sweet and succulent, and there was no overpowering fishy smell.
Slow cooked beef cheek
*Sorry, picture's a little blurry as my hands were trembling with excitement at the thought of stabbing my fork into that beef*
The Boy had the beef cheek. It was the softest, most tender, and juicy beef I've ever had. Here's The Boy's review of his main, in his own words:
"Being a regular carnivore my 1st thought was to go for the Grilled Wagyu Rump but then Charlene suggested I try the Slow Cooked Beef Cheek instead... Cooked to perfection, the meat came off the knife with slightly more force than gravity and just melted in my mouth. Full of flavour with every bite, an absolutely amazing main!"
After our empty plates were cleared, tea was served. The Boy and I went for the full-bodied English Breakfast while Charlene ordered a white tea, which she encouraged us to try.

And then it was time for dessert... ;)
Chocolate Fondant
Churros
Lemon Tart
The Chocolate Fondant was amazing. One cut into the chocolate cake, and the rich, warm dark chocolate bled out. 64% Manjari chocolate with a scope of maple ice cream and garnished with berries. In a word: orgasmic...
The Churros were light and fluffy, dusted with a layer of fine sugar, and served with vanilla, lemon and chocolate dips. I would have grabbed 'em all for myself if I had the space for more food!
The Lemon Tart was like a crème brûlée on a biscuit with refreshing mint and grapefruit sections served with a healthy scoop of wonderfully orange and cava sorbet on a bed of tiny sugar palettes. I think it's a little too sour for my liking, nonetheless, a delicious dessert for those who like citrus.
This pretty much sums up our wonderful dining experience at Knolls. Kudos to the Charlene for her invitation and recommendations. The Boy and I couldn't have asked for a better evening! :)
